Dear ISKCON members, We are all aware of the dire situation in Kazakhstan with the Government threatening to bulldoze our legally acquired property. As Chairman of the Executive Committee of the GBC I request all ISKCON devotees to help in the effort to save the situation there. GBC members and ISKCON office holders should make this a top priority in their service at present, as it is crucial that we reach out to our devotee community in Kazakhstan in their hour of need. I request all GBCs and Temple Presidents to write to me by May 8th describing what action you have taken to help our fellow devotees in Kazakhstan: secretary.ec@pamho.net For more information on what we can do to help the situation please visit the following website: http://www.palaceofthesoul.com Your servant, AC Bhaktivaibhava Swami GBC Chairman |

I offer my unlimited thanks to Sivarama Maharaja for this wonderful event which he and the Hungarian yatra organised. I beg that you will stay in contact with the Kaz Ambassador and see what is the follow up. Sivarama Maharaja writes... I just came from our protest at the Khaz embassy. It was great. We had over 200 devotees chanting, 6 x 3meter placards with pictures of the confrontation at the Khaz farm, as well as "Religious persecution in Kazakhstan". The police blocked off one lane of the 4-lane road in front of the embassy where our bulldozer was parked and devotees chanted. I had one rep from a prominent religious freedom and human rights organization with me, and we had a police escort to the ambassador. In short they were embarrassed. While the ambassador spouted the glories of free Khaz, he agreed that the local district\'s behaviour was excessive. At the end he assured us that the government would look into the situation and report back to us. That was good. I told him I would inform the media of that. And I did. We got good coverage, the devotees were elated, and above all there was a feeling that we are a big family in ISKCON, who care about each other and work to help each other. Had I asked most devotees and congregation where Khaz was, probably only a handful would know. But they travelled from all over the country, cut short their sankirtan, left the gardening till later or reported to work late-why-to support devotees who were struggling to spread KC "somewhere" in the world. If London, Washington, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Ottawa etc do the same, it will be wonderful....... Please visit palaceofthesoul.com to get an update of what is developing in Kazakhstan |
